But we truly believe that Staffbase is the best tool available to drive engagement and reach every employee with effective communications.
The comprehensive solution for all your internal comms needs
Staffbase is the leading platform for employee communications and engagement. It’s designed to drive action, engagement, and connection for both desk-based and frontline employees through inspiring communications. Staffbase offers a suite of tools, including a fully branded employee app, intranet, email, SMS notifications, and digital signage. All of this is designed to drive high employee adoption and empower your teams to engage with the company culture, wherever they work.
Plus, thanks to Staffbase’s robust Microsoft 365 integrations, it’s easy to slot our platform in beside the tools your employees already use, making for smooth and seamless workflows that drive productivity and performance.
A proven track record for enterprise internal communications
At Staffbase, we don’t just talk the talk. We have a proven track record of helping more than 2,500 companies transform their businesses through powerful internal comms. Top companies including Adidas, Walgreens, Alaska Airlines, and Sephora have used Staffbase to empower both office-based and deskless employees to engage and connect. In the next section, we’ll explore some of the unique features that these companies use to drive action and engagement with Staffbase.
Unique features that set Staffbase apart from its alternatives
Many of Staffbase’s alternatives have strong features in areas like peer-to-peer engagement, social connection, and employee feedback. But none of them rival Staffbase as an all-in-one solution for top-down, bottom-up, and peer-to-peer communications. Here are some of the features that set our platform apart.
Company branded employee apps in public app stores
When you use Staffbase for your internal communications, your employees get access to a fully branded employee app, complete with your organization’s icon, colors, fonts, name, and more. This is a major driver of acceptance and identification since your employees will feel at home as soon as they log in. The fact that the app sits right alongside other apps that employees use on a day-to-day basis will also boost adoption and engagement.
Plus, your app will be available through public app stores, which means there’s no complex mobile device management for you to handle. Frontline employees will be able to simply download the app on their personal devices — with no work email or phone number necessary — and start engaging straight away.
Mission Control: The navigation system for corporate communications
Mission Control is your hub for planning, co-creating, and measuring the impact of corporate communications. Everything starts with the built-in digital topic planning map, enhanced campaign planning, and shared editorial calendar, which enable you to drive business outcomes with advanced strategic planning.
You can also say goodbye to struggling with siloed comms teams: Mission Control acts as a central hub where internal communicators can collaborate across channels, departments, and regions.
Plus, strong admin controls and analytics dashboards make it easy to understand how employees are engaging with content, identify where your work is having the most impact, and court-correct when needed. In short, Mission Control is your one-stop-shop for planning, creating, delivering, and measuring impactful employee comms.
Staffbase Journeys: Delivering the right content at the right time
With Staffbase, it’s easy to send updates company-wide or target news to specific teams, departments, or locations. This ensures the content employees see is as tailored and relevant to them as possible, so they’re not overloaded with unnecessary information.
And Staffbase Journeys takes things one step further, by considering not just what content employees receive, but when. This feature enables strategic, timely communications at every stage of the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, promotions, returns from absences, and even during company changes. By ensuring employees receive the right information, at the right time, Staffbase Journeys can enhance the relevance and impact of your internal communications.
Flexible, two-way Microsoft 365 integrations for frictionless workflows
Another key feature of Staffbase compared to its alternatives is our strong partnership with Microsoft and best-in-class Microsoft 365 integrations. These were built by our in-house Microsoft experts, and offer various interactions with tools in the MS 365 product suite.
For example, Staffbase’s integration with Sharepoint takes advantage of its robust document management capabilities and enables synchronization of content between SharePoint and Staffbase. Employees can also access internal comms and engagement tools from Staffbase right within the Microsoft Teams interface — making Staffbase an ideal solution for organizations that rely on Teams for communication and collaboration.
Crucially, our award-winning, branded employee app allows you to reach all employees — even those without a Microsoft license or email address. That makes Staffbase the perfect companion to your Microsoft 365 setup to ensure deskless workers aren’t left in the dark.
Why leading companies choose Staffbase over its alternatives
Staffbase is trusted by more than 2,500 companies worldwide due to its robust feature set, high adoption rates, and stellar customer support. Here are a few more reasons to give Staffbase a try.
A seamless multi-channel experience managed through one platform
The best internal communicators understand the need to meet employees where they are. That’s why Staffbase supports a multi-channel experience, allowing admins to connect with employees through a branded employee app, intranet, email, SMS, and digital signage.
But managing all of those channels can be a lot of work for an internal comms team. Not with Staffbase: our platform allows IC leads to control everything from a single publishing studio, which features strategic topic planning, advanced collaboration tools, and actionable analytics. Comms teams can send out company-wide notifications across multiple channels, or target them to specific teams, departments, or locations. This provides a streamlined editorial workflow while still ensuring your crucial communications are seen by the right people.
Designed to connect and engage both desk-based and frontline workers
Whether your employees are in the office, working remotely, or out on the road, Staffbase’s award-winning employee app ensures you can reach them on any device. You can use Staffbase to send out push notifications targeted to the specific teams or locations that need to see them, making it an ideal platform for crisis communications.
And employees can also use the app to read about key company topics like policies, handbooks, and processes, provide feedback through digital surveys, and access critical HR services like payslips, absence requests, and shift plans. Essentially, Staffbase allows your people to carry your entire company in their pockets, wherever they are. It also helps both onsite and remote workers to engage with their colleagues through employee communities, social walls, and chats.
Enhanced employee communication, connection, and engagement
Staffbase can help you create an engaging but structured professional experience for your employees. It comes with advanced employee engagement features like communities, branded push notifications, surveys, feedback forms, automated journeys, and social feeds.
And, thanks to its built-in chat function, employees can also use the platform as a secure environment for one-on-one or group messaging, which means they can communicate effectively without switching focus. All of this helps to ensure every employee feels like part of something bigger. Staffbase can help you to develop and maintain a strong company culture, even among remote or distributed teams.
Robust admin controls to prioritize corporate content
Social connection is a key part of employee engagement and should be incorporated into any employee comms platform. But with many Staffbase alternatives, it’s too easy for crucial top-down or HR-led communications to get lost in the noise. With Staffbase, admins can highlight and prioritize key messages and campaigns to ensure they’re received and understood.
This facilitates the flow of critical information within the organization, even in crisis situations. Thanks to Staffbase’s robust analytics features, it’s also easy to ensure crucial messages are getting through to the right people. Admins can identify which content is having the most impact, helping you to tailor and improve your communications strategy over time.
A secure, enterprise-ready communication platform
If you’re going to hand over your internal comms to an external platform, you need to be sure that platform takes security seriously. At Staffbase, all of our systems have been built to ensure robust data protection and secure internal communications for our customers and their employees. As well as a best-in-class infrastructure, our powerful customization features also allow our customers to define their own security and privacy parameters.
We’re proud to be ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certified, and our operations are 100% GDPR-compliant. When it comes to hosting, our infrastructure is hosted by Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services in both Europe and the US. Both of these locations are also ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certified. You can find out more about our security and compliance standards on our website.
How top companies use Staffbase to elevate their internal comms
As we’ve mentioned, we believe Staffbase is the best platform for employee communications and engagement — but you shouldn’t take our word for it. Instead, let’s take a look at how three leading companies have used Staffbase to transform their internal comms.
ALDI Australia: Driving engagement and productivity for 16,000 employees
ALDI is a leader in the Australian grocery market, with over 16,000 workers across 580 locations. The company needed a solution that could help them connect with their employees, whether they were working in a store or delivering goods out on the road. They needed a tool that would let them control the company narrative and deliver the right messages to the right people, at the right time. Lastly, ALDI needed a way to streamline administrative and information tasks to reduce some of the load on their HR team.
Enter: Staffbase. Through their fully branded Staffbase employee app, MyALDI, the Australian supermarket was able to create a central hub for self-serve HR information including payroll, rostering, benefits, training, and more. MyALDI also functions as a communications platform, allowing employees to both receive important messaging from leadership and connect with peers on a more social level. ALDI has also been able to collect valuable feedback on everything from the products they source to individual store policies through Staffbase’s built-in forms and surveys.
Since launching the app in 2021, ALDI’s team has seen an impressive adoption rate, with over 99% of employees signed up and a monthly active user rate of 94%. The company has also been able to improve productivity and drive significant cost savings through streamlining and automating key HR processes.

Brussels Airlines: Building a one-stop-shop for vital comms, in the air and on the ground
Brussels Airlines is a member of the Lufthansa Group and Belgium’s biggest airline. Before launching Staffbase, the company was struggling to engage its non-desk employees through internal comms, which were largely delivered through email. They needed a way to ensure that workers in the field could access the same information as those in offices, while ensuring communications were as personalized as possible.
Brussels Airlines chose to launch a branded employee app by Staffbase to coincide with the launch of its new branding. This provided employees with a cohesive and impactful introduction to the Staffbase platform, laying the groundwork for high adoption. Since the launch, 90% of the company’s cockpit crews and 75% of its maintenance and engineering staff have adopted the app, which has a monthly active user rate of 94%.
The Staffbase app became the platform for all operational updates, project announcements, and event information, eliminating the need for email communications. Each group of employees has its own homepage, ensuring that the first information they’re presented with on opening the app is relevant to them. Staffbase’s analytics and reporting features also mean that the IC team can track which employees are using the app and which messages are getting through, allowing them to hone their communications strategy over time.

DHL Group: Connecting 300,000 frontline workers across 220 countries
Headquartered in Bonn, Germany, DHL is an internationally recognized brand with over 600,000 workers globally. Around half of these employees are frontline staff who previously had no access to the company intranet. DHL needed a solution that would allow them to reach each one of these team members and engage them with personalized messaging.
DHL chose Staffbase as its internal comms platform thanks to its mobile-first approach, branded employee app, and features like push notifications which would allow them to reach all employees with important information. After a pilot with a smaller group of employees, DHL launched its branded Staffbase communications platform, Smart Workspace, to the entire organization in April 2022. The new tool was introduced with a global communication campaign, virtual live trainings, and e-learning modules to help staff use it effectively.
Since the launch, more than 60% of DHL’s 600,000-strong workforce have signed up to the platform, which is available in 20 languages. With the Staffbase employee app, DHL is finally able to reach all of its employees, including delivery drivers and other deskless employees. Another key feature is the ability to display personalized information to employees on an individual basis when it’s most relevant. For example, each of the tens of thousands of new employees that DHL brings on board each year can access the info they need for a quick and smooth onboarding.
